When prescribing physical activity, the age, condition of the locomotory system, current physical condition, body mass and present comorbidities are taken into account.
Physical activity program is performed in purposely prepared gyms, swimming pools and through outdoor activities.
Diet is prescribed individually, with certain calorie content and regular check of body mass index (BMI), blood pressure and specific laboratory parameters.
Education about importance of proper nutrition and physical activity, as well as continuation of physical activities at home.
Osteoporosis is the most frequent metabolitic bone disease, which affects 10% of the world population. People aged above 50, every second woman and every fifth man are exposed to the risk of osteoporosis, which leads to an increased risk of fractures.
Osteoporosis is a new age disease as a result of extended lifespan and modern way of life (low calcium intake, reduced physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption…).
Prevention programs are performed in form of medical gymnastics in halls and swimming pools and adapted to each age group, aerobic training and application of various physical therapy modalities (galvanic baths, application of magnetotherapy, mineral baths and peloidotherapy).
Special programs for spinal pains and conditions after osteoporotic fractures include: individual kinesitherapy (breathing exercises, muscular strength exercises, stretching exercises, posture and balance improvement exercises), peloidotherapy, hydrotherapy, magnetotherapy.
Education about importance of proper nutrition and adequate physical activity.
The program is grounded on two basic principles: dieting, i.e. decreased calorie intake and increased physical activity.
Individually tailored calorie intake, in adition to an intensive physical activity adjusted to the age and health condition of patients through purposely created programs of indoor and outdoor exercises, aerobic exercises in thermal pools, pilates and swimming under medical supervision, leads to weight loss and body shaping.
